HOOPS & OOPS Embroidery Club

Generously sponsored by Kingdom sewing, we are a group of machine embroidery enthusiasts that meet on
the second Monday of the month, 6:00 p.m., in the Simi store. Led by Melody and Jackie, our goal is to get
people to actually use their machines! Our projects are simple ones; we charge a nominal fee—usually $2-3–
to cover our supplies. You will usually do the embroidery at home and then complete the project in class. If
you are interested in joining the fun, send an email to Melody at Hermance@pacbell.net. You must put ―Hoops
& Oops‖ in the subject line!!!

AMERICAN SEWING GUILD

The American Sewing Guild (ASG) meets each month at Kingdom. This group is a national non-profit organization dedicated
to people who believe sewing is a rewarding and creative activity. Chapters promote sewing in local communities through encouragement, education and support. They also host social events such as fashion shows and sewing fairs and many do sewing related service projects for their community. Come visit us at our next meeting and enjoy the camaraderie with like minded people. All ages are welcome.

SNEAK PREVIEW—MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
We talked with Larry and have come up with some wonderful classes beginning after the first of the new year. Look for:

 * Serger Series repeat in 3 sessions (more info above)

 * A very special Embroidery Project featuring white linen and black lace

 * Beyond the Basics for Machine Embroidery. You'll bring your laptop and machine for this one. Larry will take us through special uses for stabilizer, underlay, thread manipulation, and taking designs apart for a whole new look. This is a one-of-a-kind class and a great new opportunity to take your embroidery to the next level. All levels of embroiderers will be welcome—from novice to expert!

 * Serger Series Book Cover. We've all seen the beautiful cover Larry made for his Serger Series book. We all asked him to do a class so we could have this great cover, too.

NEW QUILT CLASSES WITH SUSAN
Meet Susan Wesner: Susan grew up in Orange County and began sewing at age seven, adding
many crafts and needlework pursuits since then. In 1980, after leaving the nursing profession,
she began working at Baron's in Camarillo. She was a buyer, most recently for quilt fabrics.
Susan enjoyed teaching quilting and its many aspects as it grew in popularity. Today, her
classes include raw edge appliqué, hand appliqué and paper piecing. Many of you got to know
Susan from Baron's. She is an extraordinary teacher and we are so very lucky to have her here
at Kingdom!

Susan brings two new quilts for classes: BLOOMIN' FLOWERS and STITCHER'S GARDEN.

BLOOMIN' FLOWERS
Class is taught once a month on either the third Monday afternoon (2-5) or the third Friday morning

BLOOMIN' FLOWERS uses machine embroidered appliqué blocks. The files for machine embroidery
the ―easy‖ way are included. Come join the fun and create your own fabric and thread
palette for your one of a kind quilt. (10-1). 6 sessions at $20 each.

STITCHER'S GARDEN
(Note: first class will be on October 22 and will be the third Saturday after that.) 7 sessions at $20 each.

STITCHER'S GARDEN features all those wonderful decorative stitches on your sewing machine
and uses many accessory feet. You'll create gorgeous appliquéd and embellished blocks
in this truly unique quilt. New tools and techniques will be taught. This class is taught once a
month on the third Saturday (either 10-1 or 2-5).
Samples are displayed in the Simi store. You must see these fantastic quilts!
